Often we are taught subjects as self-contained disciplines, but in reality there are many natural forces which effect an historical event, such as plagues, landforms, climate, wind and ocean currents. This group isn't about reciting dates or capitals--we explore people, places and events and the the way the natural world has affected history and vice versa. It's really amazing stuff!

As parents, we want what is best for our children. We ensure they wear their seat belts, we read to them, make sure they brush their teeth, look both ways before crossing and stay away from danger. When it comes to children and food, somehow we don’t know what is the best thing to do. Children seem finicky and only want to eat cheese, pasta, pizza, chicken fingers or milk and cookies. They don't like vegetables and it seems like they are in charge. At the same time, we notice that they are freq …

A Living Family: Your support, Your Family. When I was a child, my parents would tell me stories of their childhoods growing up in India. Living communally, in a compound with extended families, the children grew and played together while the adults shared together in the joys and tasks of daily life. Even as a child, I understood the power of community to enrich the life of the individual. I gather that it was a difficult time, making life happen with the resources available, but I also heard t …
